Master cylinder

I have just installed a 8 3/4 rearend in my car and was wondering, Is it possible to install a master cylinder for disc front in my car while I am still running the stock front drums? I would like to install a disc brake cylinder, run new lines and such while I have the motor and trans out of the way. I plan to convert to disk front in the real near future. Could I use a valve and still run my new MC? Anybody try the Scarbird kit?
 
I have not tried the scarebird kit.

On the brake issue, you can swap everything around but I'd advise against driving it since the discs require more fluid than drums and a pedal effort will be odd.

Do the work now that the engine is outta the bay.
 
A drum master cylinder keeps some pressure going to the wheels cylinders at all times and the disc master cylinder is made to release all pressure, if you try to run a disc master cylinder with drums, the lack of pressure in the wheels cylinders will cause you to have to pump the brakes every time you try to stop.
 
Could I counter this issue with a residual valve? I was thinking this would keep line pressure and the master cylinder would add to the line pressure that is held.
 
Which master cylinder for manual drums, front and rear would you use? I see different part numbers for different years and can't see any difference. The fronts are stock 9" and the rears are 8 3/4, 1 3/4" x 10".
