Mech oil gauge line drag legal?

Even the Aeroquip brand stainless steel braided fuel line tends to leak after awhile (6 years in my case) and not "just" at the fittings.
 
Ive never had a plastic line break or leak. Also have never had any track tech say anything about it .
 
I always seemed to eventually get leaks inside the vehicle with the copper tube probably more with me fiddling under the dash and bending things though.....
