I usually don't name my cars and for some reason I did for this car.
It is my butterscotch EL5 1971 Demon 340 with white stripes and white vinyl top I purchased back in 2008 from a fellow FABO member. When I purchased it,it was only a rolling shell without the 340 motor and 727 Torqueflight and was in half assed primer and some bodywork done, but not the best. When I got it back home, I didn't mess with the car itself, but was working on the little stuff that was easy for me to do like painting the grill and center console and buying any parts or anything I needed like a 340 and transmission. I eventually did pick up a stock 340 off eBay for a reasonable price and 727 off another FABO member which both still need rebuilt as I keep forgetting to go get them rebuilt(must be old age).

The car was born with an all black interior but didn't want to do ALL black so I had a set of seatcovers made up for me by Legendary Interior with black with black/white houndstooth inserts which will set it off better in my book.

Saw the paint pics on FB, that color looks awesome!! Always did like the color!! Can't wait to see the finished project!!

So about 3 years ago a friend of mine who is now into restoring MOPAR's took my Demon in to do the body work and painting. He didn't get around to it since he is really busy with other cars and other things, finally got to my car about a year ago. Even thou the car had some work done and primered somewhat but he wanted to start with a clean piece of slate by getting the whole car sandblasted. I am glad it did because there was some issues with the previous work done plus other issues. So after the blasting we decided to replace both the front floorpans and trunk floor as the metal seemed thin and weak. The lower rear rockers where installed poorly and rust could have eventually showed up at a later time, so those got replaced as well. The hood that came with the car was pretty bad,so I had another one laying around and that one was a little better and was able to work with it. AMD is not looking to make hoods for Demons as of yet so I have to use what I had here.

These pics are of the car after getting it back from the sandblaster.

My brother owned a car just like this back in the day. 1971 Demon 340 with Butterscotch paint, white side stripes and vinyl roof, and a checkerboard interior that I believe the main color was orange. It was a Torqueflite auto, column shift with AC and power steering and brakes. I wonder if this could be his old car?

Back around Christmas of 2014 I hauled another buddies '68 Roadrunner home from the sandblaster and since my work is slow in the winter time and not much income coming in, he offered to pay for the rest of the bodywork and the painting while it's at the shop. Otherwise I would have to wait for work to pick up again in the spring for me to pay for all that plus the car would have to sit somewhere again and accumulate surface rust. So I agreed to letting him pay and kept the project rolling along.

Anyway, I guess back this past April he got the underside of the trunk lid and hood painted along with the door jams, front valance and maybe some miscellaneous items.
Just remember my body guy wasn't working on just my car. He has other ones he is working on for other customers as well.

Up until this past Friday he had a gal come in to install the white stripes on the demon and she does an excellent job.
So this is as far as the car is for right now. I think on the list it will get the white vinyl top installed and the front and rear suspension rebuilt and powdercoated.
I'll try and post future updates when I can.

That will be really nice when she is finished:coffee2: Always loved that Mopar color! Hope to own a nice Demon someday:D

It's hard to say dynodonn. I bought it from a member in Pittsburgh,PA and I think he got it from somebody in Ohio.
So far I have not seen any other Demon in this combination yet,but would love to see another one.

Hi John. Nice to see some pictures of your Demon. I'm sure you're excited to see some color on the sheet metal. The 3x2 air cleaner looks great! Leanna did my air cleaner in the original wrinkle finish.

Yep I sure am Kevin. It was kind of hard to vision on how the car will really look like when all finished. I thought butterscotch and white?.......eww,yuck:D. I then eventually had a member do a photoshop of another member's Demon changing the black top and stripes over to white top and stripes. That helped me out on deciding to keep the car the way it came from the factory. So hopefully when my car gets done yours will be too!

Below are the photoshop pics.

Wow! Your car is going to be awesome. I haven't seen another one like that. I had a Tawny gold car, with a white top and stripes ( 71 Duster 340) that had a great color combo like that. Wish I still had it!
