Use the small green rat poison cubes they work. When you see a cube missing replace it.

Our car is sitting on jack stands sitting in trays of oil. There is a few trails of oil from the trays, but have yet to see any evidence of mice.

this is a good design too- my friend told me about these a while back - he lives on a small farm and the cats couldn't catch em all.

Like some have suggested, get a cat. Do not feed it much, and let it be a mouser. As far as mice are concerned, I've seen them run up a wall many times.
