mirror, drivers chrome remote

Question: the chrome drivers side adj mirror. i took it off to do the body work and there is a buldge in the door under the mirror, looks like where the bolt hole is. it is prob raised up from over tightening or is it suppose to be raised up. it would be easy to tap back down, but dont know is its is suppose to be that way. i don't remember the buldge from the factory so im thinking it should be knocked back down. it does not show when the mirror is on the car. what do you guys know???

Are you talking about a 1972 dart swinger ?

FWIW, The tops of the doors of the '68 S/S cars that came without mirrors were straight.

I have a few doors and some have the bulge, some don't.
If your gonna put the same mirror back on, I'd leave it alone.

My 70 duster has the same mirror. The rear hole has a small hump & the forward hole has a larger hump. I would leave it. Mine bolted back on very tight.

thanks, it is a 72 dart. i will save some touch up paint and test fit the mirror before painting
