The chrome is beautiful.....the ball stud to stalk is loose.....gottta be one N.O.S. piece left??? Or a very nice used one somewhere?? D

so the mirror head itself is loose and won't stay adjusted? can you post a pic of the mirror in question....

I think this is the style you're looking for....?

thats the one! Its loose right where the ball stud mounts to the verticle stalk. usually it gets loose at the ball socket..just my luck....D

Hey dude! Just saw your Demon gallery, that's a hot looking car! I love that color combo! Did it come with the scoop? & thanks for the mirror tip! How far are you from Virginia Beach Va? D

thanks! i am about 100 miles from the beach. that ball stud is pressed into the base i do belive. have you tried to take it out and put some thread lock into it? maybe get some solider in the hole and try that....

7demon2...I didn't know that style mirror was offered for early 70's.

Great find.

Is the pic I posted offered as a remote style only?

You mean it unscrews from the post? D

no i do believe it is pressed on. i haven't worked on one of those in pictular mirrors but the ones i have seen always had the manual mirrors adjuster pressed into the houseing . this being said i would bet the ball stud is just loose and may be able to be pressed back in. if not then you could try some of the fixes i had posted before. if the mirror is off the car you could try to take a piece of wood and lay it back of the arm onto it gently press down onto the mirror head and see if this helps to tighten it any....

if all else fails then if you feel like experimenting then this is what i would do. take the glass out. once it is out then you will see a small strip of metal with a small dimple in it. this will be attached to the mirror head inside. this metal piece will be what is holding the ball stud to the mirror head. gently tap the center of the ball stud area inside the head. this will push the stud into the base further and tighten it. if this works then simple replace the mirror back into the head and you are finished....

Thanks for all the info....I'll investigate furthur....just gonna hate pulling off that original pristine door panel:( D

be gentle it isn't so bad. if you could see what i had to go through with my mirrors you would be amazed...it is a long story!!!

How long is the cable on this mirror ? I have an NOS one .
