I'm installing a Coan RMVB that I bought in 2014 and never installed. So it's new but not new. Anyway, I noticed that one of the bolt holes isn't drilled through the separator plate.

(original Cheetah on top, Coan on bottom)

Could I just leave that bolt out? I know my luck so am reluctant to take the VB apart and don't want to drill it without disassembling to avoid getting metal shavings where they shouldn't be.

Ok to install. I've seen and installed a few like that. Never an issue.

Thanks for posting and reminding me to call back. They asked for a photo of the whole back of the VB and will get me turned around.

I told Todd the support guy I bought it in 2014 and he replied correctly that the only difference related to that is if I'd installed it in 2014 they would've had to fix it sooner.

I thought they might replace the separator plate but after looking at my photo they said you don't need the center bolt hole and the other hole that I noticed in my Cheetah VB is for drain back. So I'm just going to use it as is, with their blessing.

It’ll be fine…. have seen that on older Griner brakes too.
