Some bad **** going on in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. There have been 3 RCMP shot and killed and 2 more shot and wounded. The city is shut down as they hunt for the 24 year old suspect. He was carrying at least 2 rifles and possibly a crossbow.

There is word coming out that he is a survivalist and is a very good shot with the rifles he is using.

By the way, Moncton is the site of the Atlantic Nationals car show every year and we have a few members here from Moncton and surrounding area.

I feel so sad for the families of the officers involved. Makes you wonder what happens to make a person do something like this. Never would have thought something like this could happen in a place like Moncton. Hope they get the guy before someone else is killed.

Watched it on the news last night. Sad n tragic. Here in Saskatchewan they have RCMP as well. Dad was a former Ontario Provincial Police Officer and Correctional Officer. These people put their life on the lines everyday

mental illness....so hard to deal with

Our mental health support system is broken...and it is *very* hard to get help..instead, they are either are housed, left to roam the streets or left for the parents to try to find help..

Just got home from being out on the road. Can not believe that this is happening in my home town!

unfortunately it is not that far away, but thanks for your thoughts. If they don't get him soon it will be a LONG night.

One little detail to add, it is about 1/3 of Moncton which is shut down, the north west section mainly, from west of the coliseum to south of Magnetic hill, basically. 1968dartman is not in the lockdown area, although he is fairly close and I am even further away. It is not a fun situation!

Praying they get the shooter and blow his BAL _ s off!

Man, I don't know what's happening these days, another school shooting today as well in Seattle. Geesh, if this shooting doesn't stop they will come take away all our guns from us sane people so only the bad guys will have them. NOT!!!!!!!!!

..the reporting is a *little* over the top. telling people t lock them selves in the basement and not letting people home ?

If the guy wants to kill someone, a locked door isn't going to stop them...

They caught him last night, I think around 10 pm NB time. The news showed footage of how desolate the streets were...eeery
Ian, it might be a little over the top but he is a survivalist, so minimizing any and all public made it easier to catch him. It worked, now we can waste $$$ putting him thru the system....

..but creating hysteria isn't helpful either...glad they caught him however, would have been surprised if they hadn't with all the RCMP flooding in from other provinces..even here..

However, I liken it to the massive promotion of "don't talk to strangers" while stats show that most of the evil done to kids is by people they know...

A locked door would not have stopped him..

I agree with the $s...makes ya think that what robocop did was very effecient..

Sooo glad that the guy has been caught before he harmed more people. Perhaps now we can try to get back to normal. But first we have to get over what happened and move on, which is going to be difficult. These kind of things do NOT happen where I live.

Dartman,

The word on the street is that he gave himself up... do you know if this is true ?

Yes he did give himself up after they found where he was. When captured he was hiding in a backyard and surrendered to the police without incident.
