Saw a FB post from Jerry Nelson who's Dad, Norm, was a multi-season champion on the USAC stock car series.
Replying to a question about how much support Mopar gave the racers he said..."My Dad's deal with Plymouth consisted of the cars and parts needed to build the race cars. Plus new cars for for Norm, his wife, the primary driver and a company van."
He remembers the day when six guys from Detroit showed up with two Fury wagons, on four door Fury, one Dodge van and two Roadrunners. After a couple hours they jumped into the van and hitched a ride to the airport to fly back to company headquarters.
Those were the days....
