Pasted from Hemmings Motor News. The original copy has various Mopar logos.

"How many people ever got Autolite or Delco tattoos? Probably not many. Yet Chrysler’s in-house parts and performance brand has a mystique to it that has generated a substantial following for decades, and the Pentastar faithful will today be celebrating 75 years of Mopar.
Conceived at a 1937 meeting of the Chrysler Parts Corporation’s Activities Council in Highland Park, Michigan, the term “MoPar” was a contraction of the words “motor” and “parts” and was initially intended for the company’s new anti-freeze. United States patent and Trademark Office records show that Chrysler then officially registered the Mopar name on August 31 of that year. According to Chrysler, Mopar then evolved over the next couple of decades to become the trademark for all of Chrysler’s parts business. In the late 1960s, it became a division unto itself with an expanded mission of supporting Chrysler’s factory drag-racing program.
While Direct Connection – under the guidance of Brian Schram– operated as Chrysler’s underground/aboveground high-performance arm through the 1970s and 1980s, Mopar eventually took over that function as well, with the introduction of Mopar Performance in 1987. Mopar has continued to serve the performance market in recent years with several limited-edition vehicles, including the Mopar Challenger, Drag Pak, Mopar Challenger R/T, and Mopar Challenger R/T.
To celebrate, Chrysler will be introducing four new “Moparized” vehicles this morning through a public webcast and at Mopar.com. We also asked them to send us several Mopar logos from throughout the years, which could easily be shown to your favorite tattoo artist."
