Took the Swinger out for quick spin today. On the way home I noticed she was losing power. Long story short the trusty 225 has developed a knock. I had plans to eventually swap in a 95 360 Magnum motor(have complete motor)and a 1975 833 od trans, it looks like my plans moved up. I did a search on here and found some answers but.....I still need a few parts and have some questions. Im going to run a carb as I already have the intake and carb. My questions are will a 650cfm carb be enough for the 360 magnum and how much fuel pressure? Will an LA360 oil pan work on the magnum motor? With the OD trans what flywheel/clutch will I need? Will the O.E. magnum exhaust manifolds work on my 71 Swinger? If not I have a set of 70 hipo 340 exhaust manifolds. Lastly I'd like to run the serp belt set up. Can I use the power steering pump and alternator from the magnum motor? How much wireing needs to be changed to run the magnum alternator, and how will affect the factory amp gauge. Thanks for any info helping me to get my Swinger back on the road.

Some answers that I think are correct. Carb: 650 should be ok if stock 360, if upgrade cam and compression then probably 700-750 cfm. Fuel press 7 psi with 10 max. and will have to use electric pump since no mounting for mech pump on magnum. Oil pan from 360 or 318 will work with matching pickup. Flywheel from magnum pickup truck to have correct balance weight and whatever clutch you want for your bellhousing/throwout brng. I think the PS pump will work. I think the water pump inlet/outlet are opposite from the LA style radiators. Don't know much about exhaust manifolds.
I put 5.7 Magnum in my Duster, but i used the LA style front timing cover etc so I could use all the duster alt, radiator, etc. Good luck with your install.

LA 360 Oil pan will be the only abody pan that will bolt up to the magnum motor. The LA340-LA318 are not compatible due the different sized front or rear clearence for the main journal (dont remember which is smaller). Make sure if you use the LA360 pan you use the LA360 gaskets. All Magnum oil pans either 318 or 360 are the same as far as clearence goes. Sumps may be different of course. Hope this helps! I'm doing the same thing right now
