Mount war broke on passenger side of my 340

it is tough to weld cast iron
tough but doable

nothing a good shop couldn't handle
 
I agree, an experienced welder should be able to rebuild that ear. I've had it done on an RB block.
 
I agree it can be welded by someone who has experience welding cast iron. It's important to preheat the area almost cherry red and weld a beveled area using a nickel rod and cool slowly using a blanket of sort or even sand, though messy.
 
It's not on the torque side of the engine and the only time that would be torqued on would be when your in reverse and I don't think you're going to be doing any burnouts in reverse I my opinion would be close your eyes to that ear and don't worry yourself over it and if it bothers you put a torque strap on that side, I wouldn't worry about it put it together and drive it like you stole it I'm sure it'll be just fine . :burnout:
