Mounting a fiberglass lift off hood

I'm in the process of mounting a lift off fiberglass hood. Right now I could use some more info from here on making it level in the rear.

i use rubber spacers the right thickness with a hole to fit over the pin .
 
I used a piece of heater hose over the pin to hold the hood up and hold tention on the pins so the hood wouldn't rattle.

You can also use ice cream sticks for (shims) spacers , to evenly center it, so the seam spacing all come out perfect. They wont scratch ur paint. Then drilling the holes for the pins will be much more precise, when measuring off the body and fenders. A pair of longer (I made my own) hood pins sticking up on the rear will help u locate the hood when putting it back on each time, also some clear body protection tape around the edges of the hood or fenders will help from chipping paint. I did both.
