I'm about to mount front armrests in my 64 Dart, and am wondering if they tie into a metal brace/backing inside the door panel. I've had the panels off in the past, but haven't thought to look. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

Can't say for sure on a Dart but I think they do on my '64 Barracuda. It's been a while, but I've dealt with 2 different ways manufacturers do this, can't remember who does what. One way is for the screws for the armrest go straight into the metal of the inner door panel. The other way is for the screws to go through the door trim panel into a metal piece that fastens to the back of the panel. Then this piece slides over a tab on the inner metal part of the door so that you're pulling on the door & not just on the trim panel. I think on our cars the screws go straight into the inner metal panel of the door.
