My 71 340 Duster resto

-
Had the dash done at Mr G's in Ft. Worth Texas. I don't think I would recommend them. Not very customer friendly and their work is not that great. Has a few flaws I didn't really like. Had to have it done twice so I figured that's the best they could do. If I were doing it over I think I would just buy one of the repops. They look like they are better and probably have more durable plating. This plating has to be very carefully cleaned or it's ruined. There are other plastic plating shops advertised in Mopar magazines that can probably do much better if you want to use your original.

Got some paint on this weekend.

It's supposed to be the true 71 blue. It's PPG paint. Looks a tad darker but I like it anyway.

Thanks for the compliments everyone. It's sure good to see something besides grey on this old thing.

Im going to have to subscribe! It appears that your as picky as me about bodywork...nice job by the way.

Since when does any aftermarket 1/4 panel fit ootb? They all need a ton of work to be right.

I paint my cars. Have been doing them for sometime now but haven't painted one for a few years. Out of practice. Got a couple of clear runs I am working out. Not a biggie though just a little more blocking..ha..ha. I've blocked this car so much I thought it might become a square cube... It's paid off though I think. I guess I am a little picky but I hate body waves. The quarter I put on took a lot more fit work than I expected. I thought they would be a truer fit. Guess that's just to be expected but this is the first full quarter I have ever replaced and I was really disappointed in the fit v/s the cost.

Way back in the day when I worked in bodyshops, nothing fit. Even the toyota stuff fit like crap. And the insurance companies never gave you enough time to do the job the right way.The Duster looks great by the way!

Got a little further along the last few days. Got the clear sanded down and buffed on the body.

You got a really nice look on the seam sealer in the cockpit. What product did you use? Any tricks to its application? Thanks. Car looks great!

Can't take credit for the seam sealer in the cockpit. It's factory stuff still in good shape.

Got the doors on today. Starting to look like a car. Trying for a Christmas deadline...Ho...Ho...Ho

Been a while since I posted but I had to back up and start over. Pushed her out in the daylight about a week ago and my panel paint job had shade differences. UGH.... So I took it down and shot more color and clear on the entire car and am now back in the wet sanding stage to buff her out again. I think she likes the garage too much. Just doesn't want to come out and play...LOL. Looks much better this time. Hope fully I can get rolling again.
