I am going to give this a shot. i don't feel like I've documented nearly as well as most have. short back story on the car. growing ip hearing the stories of my dads 71 duster i got the Mopar bug early. having the option as a kid working in a salvage yard over the summers i ended up with a 1971 Plymouth duster slant six at the age of 12. was told that upon graduation i could put a 340 my dad had stored since he had his car. got lucky with a 69 block. we built that engine in the garage and as promised right after graduation i installed the engine in the driveway with him. as well as getting a 340 K member, 727 trans and a 8 3/4 rear. few years pass and i spun a main bearing and built a mild 416, forged crank, eagle H ben rods and 11.1 pistons with stock Edelbrock aluminum heads. well just over a year ago (13 years later) i decided it was time to make some changes. due to the fact that in high school you just don't make the right choices on doing things right.

it all started as a brake conversion front 9 inch drums. with the ABS power brake kit from classic industries. small bolt pattern front end. (back story the 8 3/4 rear has 10 inch rear drums with big bolt pattern)

then it turned into lets try and make the car look better inside with all 340 original interior

also decided to get rid of the old column shifter since when i was younger i installed a floor shifter. so got and modified a Flaming river column to work. as well as chaining from the brown interior to black. so that means dash and doors needed to be painted. and floors

as you can see no more 6 cylinder dash decided to upgrade to a custom auto meter setup.

well then i decided to replace the old Hooker super comp headers with some TTi ceramic coated headers.

from there it spiraled out of control. took the heads off sent them to Mike at MRL Performance to be ported and ordered a Lunati voodoo cam from him. (awesome guy to talk with and deal with)

decided on a fluid damper and a march serpentine belt set up as well.

fired her up today short video after break in.

still have a good bit to get right, the ignition switch is not working due to a internal failure of the sector gear a bad GM design. melted the shifter cable during break in so need to replace that. and some other pictures to come of the new shark tooth grill and final touches here and there before paint.

i appreciate it, i cant wait to get he small loose ends tied up and take it out and open her up! :burnout: i still have the same passion for performance i did in high school. just a better idea of wanting the rest to be nice as well as running well.

new door panels in and interior is almost done. still have to get the rear seat cover to match the front.

first successful test hit. major traction issues. I'm running 10.5 MT drag radials. hooked midway thru second even after peddling.
