Nice work on the car Gerty, can't wait to get back to working on my 71 Duster and sons 76 Duster project.

I did the molasses thing 1 1/2 years ago as an experiment on a rusted 340 engine block that was given to me.

It does stink to holy hell but worked great on cast iron.
 
Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that it does not work, it does, but no where near as fast as pre-made stuff.
 
Tadjou, that thread was the first time I saw the molasses idea. Did you salavage anything from that 340?

flyboy, I must have gotten a bad jug of the Evaporust because I tried soaking some small parts, nuts and bolts, etc. and it didn't work well. But I've used the same stuff under a different brand name (Eastwood's I think) and it worked great. I bought the Evaporust, from the same guy you did, on ebay. When I informed him about my problem he ignored my emails.
