So a little background on my buddy Justins 1969 Dodge Dart. It was orginally a F5 exterior, F8 interior, white vinyl top, and 318/904. Currently it has a 360/727 and 8.25. Our plans is to do all the body work like we did on my 68 Valiant. His is rather solid but will be replacing both lower quarters, swapping fenders with ones he has picked up, fix all other rust and go back to the F5 green. The car has had a few parts donated from my old high school car 69 dart 4dr.

Third day we got the Motor, trans, and drive line out.

very cool! is it a vinyl top car?

Originally it did have a white vinyl top with the light package. My buddy tore 3 ligaments in his leg from a dirt bike accident so it will be a longer build unlike the valiant. We are also switching it from power steering and power brakes to all manual. I hooked him up with the rebuilt column and steering box from the 67 valiant parts car. He was a bit nervous seeing in this state. I reassured him "It will only get better, don't worry!"

Geeze... You guys tear those cars down fast... Not going to lie, I'm a little jealous. Lol. I can't wait to see how this one turns out.

These cars are so simple that they're easy to take a part. At lease we can order all the body parts that his needs. Plus we work 12 hours a day but get half of the year off so we have lots of time to put into them. Next goal is to get all of the glass and dash out.

We got a bit more work done today. We got both quarter off a 74 Dart in a local junk yard to replace the wheel lips on justing 69. We also got the driver side front fender mount off the same car. He also came across a really clean 67 dart trunk lid with the trim and script lettering and made a deal for $40 plus trade for his straight lid off the 69. Beening that the owner of the yard is a friend of mine I gave him $100 for the /6 aluminum 2 barrel intake, carter bbs and exhaust manifold off a 83 dodge truck. plans to TBI and turbo charge the /6 in the Valiant.

So its been awhile since I have updated on this build because we've all be busy with me house shopping, Justin doing his stuff and Dan with his family stuff. Well we got the Dart over to Dans house (same place we did my Valiant) and in three short days we've got the all the holes (about 10 in total) in the trunk patched in and coated in POR15 along with the dutchmans panel, all the non factory and some factory holes filled in the engine compartment (about 20 in total), dash is out and bought another from a local member, driver side fender mount cut and patched, passenger floor cut and patched and passenger door striker cut and patched. Tomorrow where going to source the driver side striker materal and I have an meeting with the loans officer to renew my preapproval letter.

He's is getting done in a fraction of the time it took to do my 68 valiant. He's leaning towards going back to the factory green with a green and white interior, white top and stripe.

Justin would like for me to add a flip top gas cap next to the trunk lid, custom gauges, and French the tail lights.... I still have to fill like 30 holes down the side, delete the side markers, and antenna hole.

Got the door hidges all rebuilt, Dan got alot of the passenger door and some of the drivers door filled, tested fitted the passenger door and its looking really good. Filled all the trim holes and both rear side marker holes. I also got the front side marker of the 68 fenders filled along with the antenna hole. We also got the drivers side striker replaired using parts from a later 70s a body that has the reinforcing plate behind it.

Is the yard in the pics TeePee Auto Wrecking in Outlook?

Progress has come to a stop with it getting cold out and Dan doesn't have a stove in his shop. (We've been looking for one for him). Its john boys auto wrecking.

Wow its been a year since i've updated Justins build. Fundings always plays a part in things but in this case we had to go back and redo a few things. We ended up replacing both quarter skins, frenched in the flip top gas cap, new bulge hood, switched rear trunk lids, and did a mini tub. Im sure im forgetting a things but we are hoping to paint tomorrow.
Here is what the Dart looked like when Justin first bought it.

Oh and the 360 wont be going back in. Shes getting a 440!

Looking really good, nice job on the body, I see he mini tubed it, how hard was that to do, going to do mine soon? BTW, love the color!

I did the mini tub and frenching in the flip top gas cap. It wasn't too bad. Take your time and plan your cuts. I think there was a really good write up on bigblockdart.com. the color is pretty close to factory with a bit more metallic.
