Bought my first car to build at the age of 34 lol. One of my best friends is a huge Mopar guy and eventually rubbed off on me. Just wanted to keep a little post going on things that we do to the car. When I picked the car up it was completely torn apart. I have all of the pieces at my house in the garage and the car is at my friend's house where we are working on it.
Cost List:
Car $1500
5.9/518 Complete Engine and Transmission $600
1970 Parts Car with good roof skin front disc brakes and 8 1/4 rear end $500
Second Roof Skin just for good measure $100
Things to do:
1. Roof Repair {Scheduled with a body shop in September}
2. Front disc brake conversion 9/18/2017 Have the parts
3. Gas tank and new lines
4. Remove current engine and transmission COMPLETED
5. Decide on what engine will be going in. Edit: Bought 5.9/518 combo
6. Buy and install Qa1 K member Edit: 9/18/2017 Prob not going this route anymore. Going with a Factory K member and disc brakes from a parts car.
7. Install engine and transmission
One of the first things on my list to get done is the roof skin needs to be replaced. Here is a link to what it looks like currently -
The rest of the car is rust free with the exception of the passenger side floor board. It has a small section that I will need to patch.
8/25/2017 So far we have taken the /6 and transmission out.
8/8/2018 So I had some issues come up and had to put the car on the back burner for a bit. I'm back and hopefully will be going at it for a while. Money is tight so we are doing the body work instead of having a shop do it. We removed the roof skin and have some more spot welds to drill out and some pieces left to remove. After that, we have to remove the skin from the donor roof. This is a learning process so there are plenty of growing pains to go with lol.
