My son left today

Well my only child left this morning for Iraq. He joined the Army Sep 11 of last year.

I guess when he was growing up, I filled his head with too many of my stories when I was in the Marine corps and now that he is older, he wants
"adventures" of his own.

I am good with it, and damn proud of him. The wife is going to be a wreck for a while though. Keep him in your prayers please.

I know how you feel Jim. My son has done 2 tours in Afganistan. Most people don't think it is as dangerous there, but he had a rocket hit 75 yards from his tent while he was sleeping. Blew him off his cot, but it could have been much worse. We always think of are the service men and woman across the big pond.

Please let your son know how proud we are of him. Nice to see that there are young men with such great qualities. It is a direct reflection of the quality of his parents. You must have done a fine job raising your son. May God be with him at all times to watch over him and his fellow brothers.
