My towing question leaving early Friday

Those are the surge brakes Del mentioned as being marginal (and it's true)
Better than nothing but barely.

I have surge brakes on my car trailer and they work great, it's just a mater of setting the master cylinder on the surge brake! The only thing I can say is don't hammer the brakes too hard on the truck your towing with. That being said, I would never tow a 4500 lb vehicle with a Dakota, that's suicide in my opinion, towing my 3200 lb dart with a hemi Durango is a handful and that's with air springs on the back.
