Hi Folks

I have a Mopar driveshaft of unknown origin hoping to use it in a 727 and 8 3/4 Demon. With the yoke bottomed in the transmission and the rear axle at full drop (hanging with shocks attached) I have about an inch that I would need to pull it rearward to seat in the diff yoke.....Is this an adequate fit?

Thanks FABO

If memory serves, on a 108 inch wheelbase the driveshaft length is 44.375 inches, and the 111 inch wheelbase uses a 48 inch driveshaft. Somewhere I had a chart with the correct length of each application, but I'm at work now and it isn't on my phone.

Look in the FSM or parts books.

Some have the diameter of the shaft as well.

One of those sources has the engine, diff body combo and length

Found a chart, 70-72 Demon/Duster 340 and 727 uses a 44.99 inch long driveshaft. I was close...
Hope this helps Troy.
This shaft is 1/4 inch longer, but the yoke s 1/4 inch shorter than my original....Both have the same total length but my original is pitted badly. That's why I installed the mystery driveshaft and posted where it ended up.
Should be about a 1/4 inch off the dust boot that is on the seal, When the car is on the ground.
This rear seal has no dust boot as I am accustomed to seeing. Just the seal that came with the kit which is flat.

I thought the measurement procedure (at least when measuring for a new shaft) was to leave 3/4 to 1 inch gap (weight on rear wheels). This is what I have done in the past.

The boot is about 1 1/4 inch so you should be good
