I'm going to assemble tonight but in cleaning I noticed the inside of the 8 3/4housing appears painted/coated (removed some with laquer thinner)- is this something the previous owner did or do they get a coat of paint to help prevent rust? Can't imagine it ever rusting if oil's coating everything ?
need a quick answer regarding axle housing...

Don't recall them being painted on the inside, wipe out what you can and call it good! How's that for quick?? LOL
