need help stainless trim around the well

hey all can someone post a picture of how the clips are supposed to mount around the convertible well I tried putting the first piece on and it sits to high off the car how do those clips mount in the stainless trim and attach to the car?? 69 barracuda

I haven't had these off but it looks like they slide down from the top and are held with the screws that fasten the snaps. Hope this helps.
