I'm going from a 216 duration on a 110 lsa to a 223 on a 112 lsa or a 226 on a 109. I have a 3000 stall and 3.91's, and adaquate cr, so my only real concern is vacuum for my power brakes. Will the 226/109 cam kill my vacuum? A vacuum canister may not be enough in a traffic situation I'm told. I don't know! The 223 cam is on a 112 but is described as having a lopey idle which I like, and improved midrange. But my smallblock is pretty big, 371ci, would I even hear the 223 cam? Please help!!!

Shouldn't have a problem with either. The 226 on the 109 will pull less that the 223. Neither are big cams and the 371 should pull adequate vacuum.

do you think the 223 will lope and the 226 will be more choppy? that's what I was told. I think I'm well set for the 226 with an rpm airgap, 750 carb, etc. I'd like to run as much duration as I can and still be real sure of vacuum enough to operate the brakes... my kids ride with me, sometimes, you know? And sound is important to us, too, as well as being quick and I want what will work best with my combo among these two choices. do you think the 226 will give me at least 12 inches of vacuum or so? I think I heard that 10 to 12 was the minimum for the street. is this true? I just want to be really sure!

Seen XE268's pull more vacuum than that in a 360 and they are 224/230.

Likely won't be an issue.

I agree. The 223 should not lope at all, and I'd be surprised if the 226 was choppy. You can also run the 226 on a 106 ICL (advanced 3°) if you need to.
