Need help with tranny

I have a 1973 340 Duster and I am taking the 727 out and replacing it with A518. When I rebuilt the 8 3/4 rear end, I installed 4.10s. My question is I would like to keep the stock console but I am worried that the linkage that goes through the floorboard will hit the tranny. Any suggestions.

Theres a thread on here where a guy modded his stock unboltable crossmember and welded a tab onto it for the floor shift linkage. Going to do an A500 in my kids 69 cuda with floorshift. Heres pic i copied. I will be going this route.
