Just got the call on Sunday morning believe it or not, but the buyers accepted the sellers counter offer, so it's over for us on this one. Time to cancel my flight, car, hotel.etc.

You gotta act real quick, too as they may get a dozen offers in the first couple weeks.

Are you pre-approved?

Not just pre-qualified, but pre-approved?
 
Another item to think about is to get the property surveyed, especially if there are adjoining lots that belong to someone else. We got screwed out of a 17' x 35' patch of ground because of the listing agent & it was too late to back out of the contract. We are still fighting it out in the court system.
 
Yep, don't take their word.

First house I looked at the agent said the property line was 15' further out than it was.

That mistake made adding a driveway and building a garage in back impossible.

Had to get the state real estate commission involved to get my deposit back.
