Need an WIW! I have a guy selling an 8 1/4 rearend for an A body, has new after market axles big bolt pattern, all new disc brakes ,rotors, calipers, braided hoses,posi,4.10 gears, thing has never had a drive shaft bolted to it.ALL BRAND NEW! What is a good fair price. He is asking $500.00 for the unit.

Thanks

Bobby

I paid $200 for my 8-1/4 from backing plate to backing plate. It is a sure griped 3.21. I had 11 inch drum hardware lying around so it did not matter any. (Actually, just what I was looking for.)
Picked up half in the mud.

A disc set up would make me go to the bank!!!
And smell like a rose when I got it home.
If this is somthing you want and need! Tip him too.

Sounds good, but its only a good deal if its something that you'd want to buy. Will you be happy with 4.10 gears? It'll be expensive to replace them. When you realize that $500 will get you a 4.10 pig for an 8 3/4, it sounds really good. As long as you don't have plans for power that will overwhelm an 8 1/4. I have a 4.10 in my duster (8 3/4). not a highway gear at all, but it sure comes out of the hole good!

Well I am working on gathering parts for a Gasser project. It is a 67 dart 2 door sedan with a straight axle under the front but has a 7 1/4 rearend. So I have been looking for a better rearend, the car will only have probably 400 HP at the rear wheels when finished.I was going with a 8 3/4 when I located one but this popped up on a moments notice.A guy that I know is building a 66 Baracuda race car and it had this setup under it.He decided to run a Big block with monster HP so out came the 8 1/4 setup.Unit is all brand new never had a driveshaft hooked to it. So I found out today that he wanted to sell it for $500.00. I will be going tomorrow to buy it then for my project. Guys I really do appreciate you giving me this information.I am learning more and more about my Mopar A bodie cars everyday.Especially from you guys that really know them well. You guys are a wealth of knowledge and when things like this come up and you offer the information as you always do.It helps people like myself make the right decisions and get correct parts and not something we can't use that become wall hangers or things pushed back in a corner or items we have to try and resell because they are not correct or what we needed. If in any way I am able to assist someone do not hesitate to ask.Any parts I have for sale and a member from the site here wants them they will get a GREAT DEAL ON THE PRICE! Just to show you that I really appreciate the help and the site! I will be selling the rearend that is in the car,I don't know anything about it other than it does roll and it is suppose to be a A body 7 1/4 and it is complete,I also have a A body 8 3/4 housingwith a 741 chunk and I believe it is a posi unit,It did have some water in it when I took it apart but we oiled it down really good so It is probably ok.E mail me if you have any interest in these.

Thanks Very Much
