My car came as a roller, so I've been chasing a lot of miscellaneous items. I ordered a new U joint strap and bolt kit for my rear (7260), which is an 8.25 out of a 74 or so Duster. I want to chase the threads on the yoke while waiting for the kit to arrive. Can anyone tell me what size the threads are on a 7260 yoke? If you really know your stuff and you have time, I'd love to soak in as much info as you have on yokes. I thought I read on the site the 8.25 and 8.75 A body rears all came with a 7260. I find it tough to imagine a 68 383 Cuda 4 speed had the same yoke on its 8.75 as a slant six with a 7.25. Could that possibly be true? Appreciate any info guys.....

Don't know about the specific u-joint size/application, but there are 2 different splined yokes for an 8 3/4, depending on the pinion - course & fine spline. Course spline are usually aftermarket pinions. I don't think 8.25 and 8.75 yokes interchange. But the strongest yokes are billet steel with u-bolts using solid Spicer u-joints. I used a 7260 combo in my Dart Sport for years without issues. OEM cast yokes can actually spread if severely abused. Forged units are also available. I don't have any OEM strap-type yokes to check the threads on.

1/4”x24 fine thread tap. Yes you can have A 10 spline or 29 spline yoke. Your rears and shafts can be 7260 small joint or 7290 large joint.

.250-28 UNF 2B. My 383 Barracuda had 7290 U-Joints. Early 8 3/4 yokes had 10 spline, later had 29 spline. 8 3/4 rear yokes can have either u-joint.
