i am looking to replace the rims and tires off my 73 duster they are 5x4 14" i want to go with wider tires and my rims are only 6", i am going to go with cragers 14x6 wide upfront and 14x7 on back, i have done no mods to springs or anything, does anybody know how wide of tire i can go on back without hitting springs or doing any mods, i also have air shocks so that will help with clearence on fenders, any help would be thankful

Dusters have lots of room in their stock form for lots of wheel/tire out back. With the right offset, I think you can get a 15x10 back there with a 295/60/15.

To answer your question re: the 14's, I think you could get a 245 on the rear and would be safe with a 225 on the front. Height-wise: Maybe 60's on the rear and 60's/70's on the front - depending on what you are looking for. Have you thought about going with 15s? Perhaps 15x8s out back & 15x6s in front.

You can have all the room in the world but the rim can only take so much.

The 14x6 on the front will only allow about a 215, something like a 215-70-14.

For the rear with 14x7 something like a 245-60-14 (you are at the minimum recommend wheel width for this size)
A 235-60-14 would work but be a touch shorter than stock.

A 225-70-14 would also work but be a little taller than stock.

14" wheels limit things a bit.

I always recommend 215-70-14s all the way around for those that want 14" wheels on an abody. When you go to one of the odd sizes the price of the tire can almost double.

Yup... 225s could work on the front too. 225-60-14 would be a bit shorter than stock. 225-70-14 would be taller (You may or may not have tire to fender interference with a 225-70-14 on the front, can't really tell without mounting them, cus its not the same for every car even if its the same kind of car)

Buy 15" rims.

I will let the PROs on here help with 15" sizes. You won't have allot of choices for the front but the rears can be all over the place depending on how you want your car to sit.

14" is easy to help with because the available sizes are so limited.

Tire and wheel mnfrs usually have their spec charts on their sites which will let you know overall tire dimensions, wheel width suggestions, offset #s, etc. It is very helpful when you are at this stage of the game.

also which size that you mentioned will get me about a 11" or 12" tire width thanks

I don't think you could get 11-12" of tread on the ground in the rear without some extra work.

That would take something wider than a 295-50-15 and I never hear people talking about that size with everything in the stock location.

235-60-15 on the rear with like 225-60-15 (or 215-60-15) on the front would work if you like the stock ride height. (Some people hit the fender with the wider front tire)

Other options for the rear could be...... (on an 8"rim)

245-60-15
255-60-15
