Howdy folks,
Am going through the steering column on my 67 GT. To get the shift tube out, I had to pull the neutral safety post that moves the switch out of the tube. Simple enough, just pull it out of its retainer in the tube. Getting it back in is the problem.
The repair manual says to install a new one. Makes sense. The post is held in by an expanding 3 finger holder that expands on installation. The second time through, there is nothing for the retainer to push against so it simply falls into the shift tube. If you put it on the post first, it will not go into tube.
Does anyone know a source for a new post assembly? If not, how are yall securing the post?
