That is all I run any more
I can use a old 440 or 383 crank that is 020/030 under
and make it standard again
AND
I can at the same time offset grind it to 3.90 stroke making
the engine 470 CID for a 383 or 440 or 400 for a few hundred
at my crank guy
Also I can straighten out the indexing of the crank which is often off
several degrees which is a big HP killer on the cranks.
Most new Big Block Cranks come with 2.20 Journals now.

These are thinner than standard Chrysler rods on the big end, correct? How does that affect your oil consumption?
 
I have never found any difference on performance for a difference
in rod side clearance for oil control or on the Dyno or track.
20 or 30 years ago we considered this a possibility but ring technology
has come a long way since then and it was not shown to be an issue
even in the old days!
