Hello folks
I recently bought a 1970 dart

I tried to find some information about how to adjust my shifters column.
I didn’t find any video in youtube.

Some times i can’t return to first or reverse. I saw the cam that moves the linkages rods doesn’t reach the rods to move the shifter rod.
I was told from previous owner that the hose clamp helps to keep in position the cam and rods.

Is there any procedure to adjust the space between cam and rods?

Is there any spare part (maybe spacers) that i need to change?

Thanks in advance.
Whatever information is appreciated.

Welcome to FABO from WA State!
Is that a Dart Custom? It's a relatively rare car! Of the 191,000 Darts built in 1970 only 17,000 were Dart Custom 2 doors, and if it came with a 318, only about 6,000 of those were made.

Here are some pics of the 1970 Dart Custom 2 door my Dad bought new in 1970 and that I am still hot rodding today.

Here is the end of the column housing in my 1970 Swinger. The wire clip holds a large nylon bushing in place and this seems to be where your hose clamp is. If the bushing is missing there may be too much slop for the shifter to work correctly. There are also nylon bushings in some of the shifter linkage joints that could be worn out or missing. If you can't find an original bushing, I think that I have seen alternative replacements available. You can't service any of this without removing the column from the car, and if you are, it might be time to just rebuild the column while it is out. You should start a new thread in the automatic transmission forum here on FABO.
