As stated previously, don't expect anything to just drop in place without a bit of massaging. AMD is one of the better quality suppliers out there. And don't necessarily blame the part for a poor fit- especially when you're trying to put it into a sixty year old car with 200k hard miles on it that's been sitting in a field for the last twenty years. You'd be surprised how out of whack they are by now.I've heard that AMD floors don't fit that well either.
For a what?Ok, that makes sense. I'm looking for 1) full floor, 2) full drivers rocker, (inner & outer), 3) torsion bar x-member, 4) front frame rails (from the front suspension back).
Well $1000 for a repro grille is not happening. I've heard that AMD floors don't fit that well either.
Stephens PerformanceI buy all my body parts from Stephens Performance, they go to all the major Mopar shows and bring inventory, and if you get a hold of them in advance they will make sure to bring what you need...
AMD is the best fitting stuff available. No reproduction part will fit perfectly, the FACTORY parts never fit perfectly and the fit varied from one car to the next, the body tolerances on these cars are all over the place. And that was 50+ years ago.
With large reproduction parts a big part of the price is the freight shipping, and how that gets advertised will change the price on the part more than anything else. As in, if you see a floor pan super cheap somewhere, you can expect that doesn't include the freight shipping. For example, Summit's advertised prices are not the lowest. However, their freight free is also not 100% of the freight cost, as in shipping a fender might cost you $20 extra at Summit but $100+ somewhere else. So, when you're pricing parts make sure you're comparing the price that it'll take to get it shipped to your door, because most of the "cheap" advertised prices have a ridiculous freight charge that gets added.
Yeah freight shipping is rough but you have to keep in mind, it's a pallet of stuff, stacked pretty high.
My two largest purchases today for my Cuda were $185 for shipping which included dynacorn rear assy, front floor, crossmeber, upper cowl and both quarter skins. The most recent was 285 and that was because they added $100 for extra packing of my shaker hood. the order also included a firewall, and two fenders.
Now, order a shaker from Roseville and it's over $400 for shipping just because AMD does SO much more volume.
Oh no doubt. I think a lot of simply depends on the shear volume they do. Used to be AMD wouldn't deliver to my door when shipping freight because I'm not a business but that's changed so bonus for me.Oh I know why it costs what it does, no argument there.
But because of how different the shipping charges can be from one seller to another you really have to make sure you're comparing the "delivered to your door" price when you look at prices for stuff like that, that was my point.
