If it's your first time removing an engine, trans. Be very careful and use all the safe practices like jack stands. Wheel chocks and job rated equipment for what you are doing. Don't work under the car with just a hydraulic jack, I've seen them collapse. My safety part is over now I had a 70 duster with the console shitter and I had to remove the shift rod that came thru the tunnel and connected to the trans. I think there may be a mount for the linkage but I don't remember removing anything in the console in the interior. I hope this helps, good luck and be careful.

Assuming you have a console, all you need to remove are the two on the shifter bracket on the transmission, remove the bracket and ignore the shifter rod hanging.
