A friend of ours told us about the site.........

We are interested in becoming a VENDOR............

I am here representing Frank Racing Inc. in Houston, TX............we do custom head and cam work for late model 5.7 and 6.1 HEMI's and more specificly been working with the newer LX platform.

The direction of our business is to include swap "kits" and related parts to place a 5.7 / 6.1 HEMI into A and B bodied cars...............

We will manufacture motor mounts, radiators / mounts, ign. system, and such for the ease of this conversion..............

We are just getting this under-way and look to you guys to help us along the way....................we know you have experience w/ the A-body and will have much needed input.

I have nothing to sale, yet.............so I ask the moderators work with us and allow us to become site VENDORs because I think we have something huge here............

How much power?

Well, the LX platform allows us NO tuning, a 6200 RPM limit, in a 4500 lb car yet we are tuning CONSISTANT high 12 second passes around 107 - 109 MPH............

Please understand, this is with a rear end that allows NO ADJUSTING and an instant center that lays somewhere in the back seat..................horrible for weight distribution.............common 60' times are in the 1.9 - 2.0 zone with only the best pulling off a 1.8.

These cars have consistantly dyno-ed around 380-ish rwhp and 390 - 410 fpt corrected w/ small cams and our ported heads..........

We can only imagin what they will do with expanded RPM, tuning via a spark box, and carb jets in a 2800 - 3200 lb car.

Thx for your support...........

Lee

i may be the only guy on this forum to never be welcomed......... :butthead:

I'll give you a Welcome. I would have sooner but I've been busy this week. Glad to have you !

ROFL.............thanks

Ya'll know I was jus bust'in chops!

Yes...................we should have our first retro delivered in about 3 weeks. Its a 67 Barracuda that we found right here on this FORUM (PhilsAuto) that another guy we met online is purchasing (USCGCharger) who also became a member here.

The plan is simple.............

The car needs to be gone thru completely...........

We will pull the 273 but reuse the 904 and 7 1/4 for now...........

We will use existing parts on the market for the headers, pan, mounts, etc.

We will improve on what needs to be improved upon and use whats already out there if it works well..............

We will then gather up everything needed to make this do-able and market them as a "kit".............

We are doing all the work for USCG Charger for free to use his donor car and he is paying for all the parts..............

Most of the other guys are using the stock computer to run this combo but we've BEEN using the EFI stuff and can tell you IT SUCKS! (no tuning, idle issues w/ cams, weak spark adv., 5800 rpm, etc.) Therefor we will be going carbs.................

We will do a detailed artical here and hope you all join in and give us your thoughts.

This will be a basic street rod, so most of the motor will be stock (cam only).

We expect this combo to make about 400 rwhp corrected on a Dyno Jet.

Next, he'll take the car back to Corpus Christi and do the paint / body / interior

Next, he'll swap out the rear for an 8 3/4

Next he'll build the 904 w/ verter

Next he'll bring us back the motor for a forged crank / rods / pistons w/ full porting of heads and intake w/ matching cam and a carb change.

I expect that combo to make about 500 rwhp on a Dyno Jet in N/A trim.

I have walked these steps before in the mid to late 80's when we were doing 5 litre stuff and wanted to work with the older Ford guys...........

The older FOrd guys would have anything to do with us "young guys" and wouldn't even acknowledge the Fox Mustang as a Ford.............

I saw the same thing as the LS1 came along...............

I suspect we'll receive a push back from many fellow MOPAR people:

"Thats not a REAL hemi"
"I can get that same power from a 340"
"I rather use a 440"
"I don't like that NEW stuff"

I hope that people see these new motors for what they are....................bad arse!

If the people here can understand how advanced the LS1 is and know how powerful and how much potential it has..................you better take a close look at these new HEMI's because they are even BETTER!

And the more we support its use, the more aftermarket will come along for it which means the prices will drop and things will get even better..........

Once again, I thank you for your support and look forward to adding to the FORUM and would like ADMIN to PM me about costs to support the site as a VENDOR.

You fogot to say,

Next USCG Charger will be single, and his wife will by then hate Franks Racing....but he will have a badass ride in olace of her. LOL :headbang:

I for one think that it is great what you guys are doing with the new 5.7s and 6.1s!!! In fact, if you need another car to put one of these engines in give me a call!!!!!! :toothy7:

Hey Welcome MomsRT. Anyone doing work on Mopars is good in my books, weather it be old or new. The new engines get better mileage for the power they put out, and EFI is great for reliability, or if you still like you can still throw a carb on them. Glad to see someone working on, and improving on a new supply of parts for our cars.

Welcome Lee, It just takes a while for us to wake up. LOL. Hope you enjoy the site. :blob:

:coffee2: Welcome and enjoy yourself here at fabo.
I have been working off a hang over! Spent a wild night with the boys. :tard:

sometimes we all just sleep around here :sleepy3: sorry about that MomsR/T! welcome aboard and much sucess to you endevors

thanks for the welcome...................

times ticking along and we are getting closer to the Barracuda's delivery

As mentioned, our company is called Frank Racing Inc..........commonly called FRI by the LX platform owners....................they claim to be FRIed once they put on our parts.

Due to this, the Barracuda project will be named:

Project FRIed Fish

And will be covered step by step both here and LXForums.com.............we hope many of the "new" Mopar fans will be lured towards the older bodies....................we will point them here as they become interested.

At the same time, we are also building a 6.1 block (same stroke as the 5.7 but with a 4.030 bore compared to the 5.7 3.920 bore) with 5.7 heads; forged crank, forged rods, forged pistons, with a new / prototype Eldebrock twin 4 barrel intake (dual plane).

Compression will be around 11.25:1 static flowing 345-ish @ .600 lift intake w/ 6.125 rod and a 4.035 bore......................we will spray a healthy shot of nitrous through a custom, plate styled direct port nitrous system that sandwiches between the intake and the head..................very trick.

This motor will be made to spin to 7250 - 7500 and should make high 500 to low 600hp w/o the dope using hydraulic rollors................

BTW...............just to share something about these 3rd Gen HEMI's:

Hydraulic Rollor
Twin shafts per head (same shaft od as all early models)
Same basic design of water pump
stock pans come w/ baffles
Dry manifolds
5.7 stock flows about 280-ish right outta the box (2.00 / 1.57)
6.1's flow 330-ish right outta the box (2.08 / 1.58)
(both at .600 lift w/ 28" of water)
Caps are splayed
Stock rods are 6.250 (nice rod ratio)
Stock 6.1 crank is forged while 5.7 is cast
Stock 6.1 cam is billet while 5.7 is cast w/ pressed on lobes
Trans bell housing is same as 904 / 727
TIming chain covers are different (truck vs LX)
Truck 5.7 block and heads are same as LX (minus EGR port)
5.7 / 6.1 blocks use same oil filter as 318/340/360

As you can see..........................its a REAL nice small block w/ excellent line-of-sight, low weight bottom end, good rod ratio, and most everything you could want RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX!

I'll be in touch.............

nice to see some one getting us mopar guys some parts,,,,,,seems every one wants a piece of the new HEMI,,,,,weather selling parts or wanting to have one under the hood,,,,i may take out my old school red ram hemi,,,,for a modern 5.7.....
