So after rebuilding my clutch pedal assembly I was checking the new system and my Dart began to smoke under the dash SOB! I quickly disconnected the terminal of the battery that I always keep just hand tight for these kind of circumstances. After further inspection I found my blue and white wire had gotten really hot but I'm not sure why I put it back together couldn't find a reason though I think I may have pinched a wire when reassembling the steering support. After retesting everything works except for the blinkers are now dead. I could use any help or suggestions , I'm tearing into the column thinking it may be the blinker assembly which was replaced about a year ago but it always felt like a POS.. any experience with this problem that you may have or suggestions would be appreciated.

Let's back up about a mile and a half and read what we just typed. First, what are we workin on. Year make model.

Next, what is a "blue and white" wire?

If you don't have a service manual, and it is earlier than 74, wander over to MyMopar.com, and download one, free. You may have to settle for Plymouth vs Dodge, etc, depending on the year.

If you have a 74 and need a manual, I have one, but it is too large to email. Get ahold of me if that is what you have.

Bear in mind that shorts can be a huge PITA, because hot wires in the harness can melt with other wires and cause more cross connects or shorts withing the harness.
