I was tearing apart my 904 for rebuild and noticed that I have a lock-up valve body, but the input shaft indicates it is a non lock-up unit. I heard they are incompatible, but I'm not sure how this works. Is it possible to cap or bypass the lock-up unit to prevent actuation as a work-around? Can anyone explain this? Thanks.

It's not possible for it to actuate without the right internal parts and lockup converter.
Other than the lockup valve and corresponding fluid supply tube the valvebodies are the same.
On a standard valvebody they use a stiffening plate where the lockup valve assembly would be. IIRC
The separator plate (the red part) is a little different also.

If it works fine the way it is, I wouldn't open that can of worms.
