I have a Mallory electric Distributer on my Duster and was going to put a new MSD one on but i have no timing light or anything so would i need to get one or is it possible to do it with out messing with the Timing on the engine? Sorry for the noob question never done a Distributer before just a cap and rotor in my old Conquest.

If you change the distributor, you WILL need a timing light.
If you are that new to it then doing it by ear is not a good idea.

+1 to start with static timing, even when you get the light.
No need for knob for backup timing, they are not very accurate.
Clamp on probe is nice.
