I know I should post this on the truck forum but there are more members here that might be able to help me out. I have a 95 2500 Dodge ram with a V10 that I need a transfer case for but I can't located one. My question is shouldn't I be able to use one out of a 1/2 ton or Durango? I know the yokes will be different but can I swap those off the ruck transfer case?

Is the case cracked? Why are you looking for another one. They really aren't that hard to go through. You didn't say what case you currently have.

This one is noisey and it has been worked on in the past. It has orange silicone everywhere and when I replaced the rear seal a piece of shim was there at the drain back slot behind the seal.

being an 8800 GVW rig theres 2 options those came with, the NP241-DHD and the NP241-DLD either one will interchange from a cummins or a v10 powered 2500 or 3500. the 360 gasser 2500's and half tons have different spline counts i believe (dont quote me) and honestly are not worth the hassle of making a frankenstein transfer case. the main difference between the DHD and the DLD is chain/drive/driven gear width. most 1 tons had the HD, and oddly enough, even if its a diesel, the 2500's mostly came with LD's. durango/dakota case is a no-go, those were NP231's, and would eat itself alive in a V10 powered torque monster. the 241 is cake to freshen up. ive done three and they literally take maybe an hour to do. theres 1 synchro, and the oil pump assembly is plastic. thats really the only things that may be troublesome. pulling the bearings and seals to replace is easy as pie. (im hungry haha) the rest is very self explanatory and theres tons of helpful sites that can assist you.
