Hey folks, quick question. On my 97 dakota, the starter took a dump, cracked the case and is basically fused to the transmission. has anyone ever had this happen? pretty sure it has the original starter. we had a heck of a time getting the upper bolt loose. we now cant seem to separate the starter housing from the transmission. both bolts are out and we have beat the hell out of it trying to get it loose from the trans. any advice?

Does it still turn over?
With both bolts off I would try to start it, that will probably throw it off

Or just put a prybar on it
Or what it with a whoopingtool

It may be hung up on the flywheel. Can you take the front inspection plate off the tranny and look up in there?
