Numbers matching?

I left a message for the guy I bought the car from about 8-10 years ago, It have 82 plates on it when I bought it so its been off the road for a long time. I imagine there were one or two other owners before him, so does anyone have any ideas on how to trace ownership of an old vehichle?

Yes fnder tag says D13 3 peed on the floor which someone replace with the current 4 speed.

I agree with you crackedback, that blocks/engines could be bought over the counter. But I have never heard of, or seen, a warranty replacement tag on the block. Do you have any reference to this claim? Info/pics? :dontknow:

It's not like he doesn't have a multitude of drivetrain parts.

I think if you had documentation that it was a warranty replacement block then it wouldn`t matter at all, and the added value would still be there. It is better than having a non-matching numbers block.

It's still not the original motor. Wow can a car that was either built with a crappy motor that blew up, or the owner over revved and spun a bearing while still under warranty be worth the same as one that wasn't? It's not, and the fact that there are people that agree with me will reduce the demand for such a car, thus causing the value of those cars to be lower than the one's that do have the original motors. If you had two identical cars at the same price, except that one had a "warranty block," and one had the original motor, which would you pick? There is still value in these cars, but pay accordingly.

I know it`s a bad barometer to measure by but I have seen cars on Barret -Jackson with documented warranty blocks and there was still most of the value in the car. Of course the original engine/drivetrain will bring top dollar for any car but we`re not referring to a 71 Hemi Cuda convertible. Not every engine that Chrysler produced was perfect and there was failure along the way ,from /6`s to Hemis, but I believe having a documented warranty block is better than a non-matching #`s block and the next best thing to the original block the car left the assembly line with.
