Alright.... you old guys might be a little disappointed, but here it is.

98 Wrangler for my almost 15 yr old daughter. Has a rod knock, but has been garage kept and not a spot of rot on the frame, body mounts or floors!

That smile on her face behind you says it all ,, Priceless !
Life is good,,,you’re a good Daddy for helping her !
And that’s a really nice looking Jeep,,,,she will be happy with it .

And in teaching value, she's been working 8 hours a week as a hostess at a small local family restaurant for the last year just so she can pay her part. She paid 2/3 of the purchase price today.

Yes,,,,and in doing that,,,she will appreciate it all the more !
Good job Dad,,,,you have a fine young lady there !

That's a nice Jeep! Are you planning to rebuild it, or just buy a long block assembly? It will make a nice vehicle for her when done. Maybe she won't pile the dash up with little rubber ducks.....lol.

Yes,,,,I see that here all the time .
I have nearly been ran off the road a few times by those .

Whenever I see them coming,,,,my first words are :
“We have Ducks on the Dash “
Look out !
Lol .

It’s like they feel,,,(,I’m in a jeep,,,I don’t have to be courteous to anyone.)
(And stay on my side of the road .)

Lol .

If she likes it, that's all that matters. Please do teach her that's Jeeps are top heavy and with a short wheelbase, jerking them around can sometimes result in bad things. But I know you know that and will cover it accordingly.

Hoping to refurb what's there, unless it's too far gone. And the interior is nearly spotless and the top was replaced 6 years ago.

Ducks.... I told her this morning "no ducks, or were not going to get it" LOL

Mark, if it gets down to needing to do a long block swap, I have been very pleased with the 4.7 I bought from Powertrain. If they can improve those sorry things....they can do anything, lol.

So it was last on the road in 2021. That's when the rod started knocking. Typical for the mileage, or typical for the choice of oil changes?

Might have hit the jackpot today. Wasn't really ready to get into the Jeep until Josh and I finish Fred. However, I got a lead on a motor that was pulled 15+ years ago and stored indoors. So I made a lunchtime run. The guy claims not to know any history on it, as his father-in-law was the owner, had pulled it for a 4.0 swap, had a stroke shortly after the swap and there it has sat in the corner ever since. Ended up giving the guy 100 bucks for it. All accessories are still bolted to it, as are all hoses and the complete wiring harness. Turns by hand and the oil looks like it had been changed eight before the thing was pulled. So after Fred is on the road in about 4 weeks, I'll year this little 4 banger down and see how clean I hope it is.
