Friend of mine just got done putting a 360 magnum into his 81 dodge power ram 150 pick up truck. We are trying to figure out where to put the full mark on his dip stick... The engine holds 6 quarts of oil, so do you put the oil filter on dry then dump 6 qaurts in it, fire it up and let it idle for a few minutes then shut it off and where ever the oil line is make that the full spot.
Or do we fill the oil filter completely full then put 6 quarts of oil in the engine fire it up let it idle for a few minutes then shut it off and where ever the oil line is mark that as full?
the oil filter he runs is a shorter one to clear the hedders, the wix part number is 51085.
Just trying to figure out if full is 6 quarts of oil in the engine excluding the filter being full upon installation, or if full is 6 quarts of oil plus the oil filter being full before installing it.
