So I was priming my engine since its in the car and soon to be started. I have the oil in the engine and the prime tool in my drill. I start pumping and oil shoots out of the oil press port (stupid me forgot to put it in) hahaha So theres the funny part. After cleaning it all up I start priming again and once pressure starts to build the oil begins to pour out of the oil filter plate. I just have the basic oil filter plate that is held on by the double nipple and the filter screws on to that. What gives. I replaced the gasket when I was prettying up the engine. Any ideas?

I had the same problem when using the "star" type gasket for the plate,I then used the thicker std. circle type gasket and it sealed, dont know if thats the case for you but some plates can be a ***** to seal.

I had a plate that was a defect or something because it was off by .25 inch I got a different plate and all was fine
