I'm putting a 318 in my 66 Barracuda (originally a 273) and was told by Milodon that their A engine oil pans (even the stock replacement pan) won't fit the 1963 to 1966 A bodies because the drag link on these cars hits. I don't really want to use the pan from my 273 because I want to keep that engine complete. Can anyone tell me what needs to be done to get a non 63-66 pan to fit? I know some people have swapped 360's into these and I know they didn't use the 273 pan... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Ken

I used a Charlies aluminum on my 340.Had to heat it up and dimple it for
clearance. Not a bad job i would think you could do this with a stock steel
pan as well.I took a steel pan off mine that cleared ok but not sure what
it was,i assumed a 340 pan.

If you 66 was originally a 273, then you have the dropped drag link. Any pan that fits the 318, and has the same center sump location as you 273, will drop right in there.

The Milodon low profile pan will fit if you shave the front corners. Some modify the K-frame instead but the pan mod is easier & won't affect the K strength.
