About time i updated this as it may be of interest to those who offered help.
i experienced fluctuation in my oil pressure this spring so i decided to pull the motor and check.
Glad I did as much was wrong. The mains were worn down to the copper in places and some of the rods ends too.
Close inspection of the pistons and rings proved interesting. The thrust side of the pistons were overly worn and the rings had a sharp feel to them. My machine shop thought that bore washing with fuel may be the cause.
It is interesting that i has just fited a 750 instead of my usual 600v/s carb. Not conclusive as to what caused it, but heres what i have done.
crank reground to +20 and all new bearings
New flat top pistons and rings (see other thread)new oil pump
Fit the 600 carb
Hope to fit it later this week if the rain stops!
