I have a Sunpro mechanical oil pressure gauge, when the motor is off should the gauge still register pressure; or should the gauge indicate zero. If it is suppose to register zero, could someone help me calibrate it. Thanks

Mechanical oil pressure gauges should always drop to zero when the engine is off but to calibrate one would be nearly impossible I'd think. The only way I'd know to calibrate one is take it apart and move the pointer and I can tell you that you'll probably destroy it trying. LOL

agree with the above post. other alternative would be to compare it to another gauge that does read zero, and note how much higher it is...and just go from that. Other than that, sunpro may recalibrate your gauge if you sent it to them...or your outta luck.

Thanks guys, I guess I will just subtract the initial reading from the running pressure until I change the gauge. Peace
