Hello. I Just primed the engine with oil using a priming tool driving the oil pump (as suggested in another thread). During the priming, I had my son in the car to see if the oil pressure gauge moved any. It didn't. So, I am wondering if the oil pressure sender is bad or if the gauge is not working (or the pressure is just not high enough to register without the engine running).

The service manual has a gauge test gizmo that has a Low, Medium, and High setting. Does anyone know what these testers have inside? My guess is that there is just a couple of resistors that are switched in at the different positions.

Also, anyone know how to test the oil pressure sender?

Thanks,
David

If your gauge is electrical, it would not register until powered (ignition on). If mechanical, should show some pressure.
