oil pump holes

hey guys. i was looking at my new oil pump the other day and noticed one of the holes is not drilled out on the pump. there is a threaded hole in the block. is this right? or should i drill a hole in the pump. thanks for any help.

ah i see, i checked rock auto. they list it as a 5 bolt pump. says it replaces the six bolt pump. i guess they found you dont need it. i would still rather have six bolts.
 
Did you notice that ear of the casting is smaller/weaker than the others ?
In production machining that ear would be used as a locater on the fixture.
Even though the other holes aren't drilled exactly centered in their cast bosses they are within tolerances. To locate that casting in a different manner then drill that hole as far off center would only make that ear weaker still.
I imagine back in the OEM production days they would drill that hole first in a seperate operation then use it with a pin through as a locater.
There might not be a future or retirement plan in career changing and job hoping but a man can sure learn a whole lot of crap ! LOL
